Maraú Hotel
Located between Vila de Itacaré and the Maraú Peninsula, the project area is approximately 700 meters long. The mouth of the Guaibin River runs through this stunning area of white sand and sea. Its meandering course and preserved mangrove vegetation define the lateral boundaries of the property. This diversity and natural richness is the inspiration for the careful design of a unique place that restores to the earth the richness of the Mata Atlântica forest.
In the search for references and a lower environmental impact, we also researched materials from the restoration of monoculture coconut plantations, promoting biodiversity and manteining an ecological corridor. The use of materials from the coconut straw can be studied as a component of clay walls exists in the local culture. Fishing nets and native wood planks are also used to create the aesthetics the team sought in the hotel concept, in addition to coconut.
The continuity with the existing landscape, river and vegetation was the main inspiration for the proposal. The coconut monoculture could be replaced by a diversity of species responsible for recovering and highlighting the unique beauty of the place. The site plan is organized to create microclimate cores. Surrounded by lakes inspired in the existing ones, they are visually connected by a visual axis straight to the sea.
The architecture softly lands on the recovered ecosystem, seeking to merge into the landscape but also offering an aesthetic tactile experience that residents seek in contact with nature, local identity and culture.
